Israel and Apartheid

This is a very short post but I want to use questions rather than a full post

When World War 2 ended we vowed that oppression in the scale against the Jews would never again be committed. In 1948 Apartheid started and when it ended we vowed we would never allow others to be oppressed in the same way. This raises the question, do we have to wait another generation to say the same about Palestine? Is it oppression? If so why do we have to watch people suffer rather than act  against oppression?
